Who would have ever thought that an age-old cup of tea could produce weight loss
results? The benefits of green tea for dieting are a hot topic in the
weight loss business these days.
Supposedly, green tea can raise the amount of
calories per day an individual burns which is why this
weight loss aid is such a hot topic.
The Chinese have known about the health benefits associated with green tea for
years, but it hasn’t been until recently that the Western World has caught on to
the trend. This natural anti-oxidant has recently commanded some attention due
to British supermodel Sophie Dahl’s significant weight loss. She mostly
attributes the dramatic results to her regular consumption of toxin-flushing and weight-loss
enhancing green tea.
In 1999, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study which
found that men who were given a combination of caffeine and green tea extract
burned more calories as oppose to those only given caffeine or a placebo. Since
decreasing food intake or increasing energy expenditure are the only two ways to
battle bulge, green tea seems to be an added bonus when it comes to
weight loss.
Whether lowering cholesterol, fighting against Alzheimer’s or warding off
certain cancers, green tea seems to be a little miracle in a cup. Perhaps it’s
worth substituting green tea for your daily coffee?
