5 Tips to Lose Weight with Dieting and Nutrition
Cut Out to Cut Down
If you’re looking to experience a
weight loss breakthrough with dieting and nutrition and want some
tips to lose weight you’ve landed in
the right place. What’s almost funny about weight loss is that many people find
that when they change one simple part of their diets, they experience 10-20
pounds of weight loss. Therefore, here are a few suggestions to get you going on
your weight loss journey.
1) Stop drinking soda. Whether it’s regular or diet soda, people tend to drink
Coke and other pops like they're going out of style. Don’t depend on this
chemical and sugar-filled drink to quench thirst –instead, drink a sodium-free
sparkling mineral water with a squeeze of fresh lemon to provide a little fizz
and natural flavor in your life. Often people find that by simply cutting out
pop, they begin to lose weight.
2) Change-up your coffee routine. Starbucks introduced the mass market to
sugary, dessert-like coffee drinks. Unfortunately, we don’t treat these drinks
like an occasional dessert, instead, we order a grande or venti every day. If
you’re looking to shed 5 or 10 pounds, consider giving up your daily mocha or
latté for tea or an Americano –with milk, not cream.
3) Update your restaurant ordering patterns. It’s easy to forget about our diets
when at a restaurant; especially when we see the mound of salty fries passing us
by en-route to our neighbors’ table. Since most people eat out at least once a
week, it’s wise to eat nutritious and balanced meals even at a restaurant.
Compounded over time, eating a massive, not-so-good-for-you meal out once a week,
over a year, can have an impact on our weight.
4) Eat well at home too. One way to do this is by grocery shopping with
nutrition in mind. Practically, this means sticking to the perimeter of the
grocery store where all the healthy food groups can be found: produce, dairy,
meats and alternatives and whole grains.
5) Hydrate yourself. Since we’re often running from activity to activity and
likely grabbing a coffee on the way, we end up going through the day without
drinking much pure water. This is bad for two reasons: first, our bodies need
water to function properly, and secondly, people often mistake thirst for
hunger. Therefore, to solve this pattern, consider carrying a water bottle with
you when you go out, so that you always have water on-hand.
