Weight Loss Help for Holiday Dieting
Don’t Stress at Cocktail Parties
The holiday season typically runs from November to early January and
contains festivities for thanksgiving, Christmas (or a like-celebration) and New
Years. Throughout this intense season of appetizer nibbling and dinner parties,
holiday dieting can be a challenge to maintain. Thus, here is some
weight loss
help for successful weight loss throughout this
daunting dieting season.
First, don’t eat out of boredom or nervousness. At cocktail parties there tends
to be lots of tantalizing appetizers which are seemingly small. However, when
consumed throughout the course of an evening, these 'mini-bites' can be equivalent to 2 full meals.
Second, try and always carry a glass of sparkling mineral water in one hand.
The mineral water will not only provide a full feeling but it will also give you
a 50% chance of taking less food in that you have a glass occupying one hand!
Third, mentally prepare yourself for battle. Eating healthily when there’s
temptation in the form of nuts and chocolate in shiny bowls scattered throughout the
party can be overwhelming. Therefore, it’s good to take 5 minutes before your
outing and pre-plan how much and what you’ll eat.
Fourth, stick to the right food plates. At most cocktail-type parties,
typically healthier foods like fruit and veggie plates are offered. It’s best to let
these be your eating ‘rule’ and the cheeses and cookies the ‘exception.’
With mental preparation and strategic decisions on what to eat and drink,
holiday parties don’t need to cause a diet disaster. Enjoy the
company...and the food in moderation!
