Is a Negative Calorie Diet a Healthy Diet?
Put the Good Fuel In
A negative calorie diet is the act of eating fewer
calories than one’s body burns in a day. This type of diet
is not classified as a healthy diet. An
example of a diet of this nature is something like the cabbage soup diet which encourages the consumption of many
vegetables (which are low in calories) for short-term weight loss. However, this
diet nor most diets with negative calories are long-term solutions to any weight loss effort.
A diet with negative calories is not suggested nor endorsed by Doctors and
Dietitians alike because the body needs food to survive. By failing to eat
nutritious meals the body will suffer from malnutrition. In addition, food is
the body’s fuel, so without fuel the body won’t run properly.
In our day and age of constant distractions and running around, we can’t afford
to lose concentration and stamina throughout the day due to lack of calories.
Simply put, not eating enough is very risky given that we’re always doing things
that require focus and attention.
Do your body a favor, forget about a diet centered on negative caloric intake
and embrace a healthy eating plan. Similar to putting the high-grade gas in your
car, eating healthy will provide your body with the optimum fuel for the road
ahead.
