Reduce your Grocery Bills on the Atkins Diet
Get Down
Anyone who’s gone through the grocery check-out while on the atkins diet
weight loss plan knows that grocery
bills can get pretty expensive. Seeking weight
control through the consumption of fresh produce, eggs, meats and dairy is
no cheap way to lose weight. As such, here are some tips on how to reduce your
grocery bills while eating atkins
diet food products.
First, shop for produce in bulk or at lower-cost produce stores. Because produce
isn’t the main ‘bread and butter’ for grocery stores, they have the luxury of
charging a little more because they know you’re
already in the store, so picking up a salad for dinner is convenient. Instead,
smaller produce-only outlets tend to have fresher fruits and veggies at better
prices because selling produce is their main business.
Second, shop for all meats, fish and eggs in bulk. Usually a big-box store like
Costco buys in big quantities and thus offers a discount to consumers who buy in
large quantities. As such, the more expensive items can be more cost efficient
when purchased in larger quantities. In addition, try to buy the frozen meats, poultry and
fish as they tend to be a little cheaper than the fresh items.
Third, read the flyers. Although produce stores and Costco are usually good
bets for the above-mentioned items, keep your eyes open for sales. Often dairy, in-season produce and meat
products will go on sale if a store receives a shipment that’s too big or wants
to make room for new product. Take advantage of the sales!
Although atkins is one of the more expensive diets, the shock
doesn’t have to be as strong if you can be smart about when, where and how you
make your atkins diet food product purchases.
