Weight Loss Tips that Bear A Lot of Weight in Dieting and Successful Weight Loss
The Tip of the Iceberg
When it comes to slimming down, weight loss
tips are really just the tip of the iceberg. To take the analogy a little
further, the literal tip of the iceberg helps people to see what’s ahead and
thus provides value…and hopefully enough warning to avoid what’s below.
Similarly, dieting tips are meant to
give you insight into the whole weight loss process and assist with your navigation into the
calm waters of successful weight loss.
Here are some suggestions:
First, fruits and veggies. As stipulated in the 2005 Food Guide Pyramid and
according to the US Dept. of Agriculture, we should be eating 2.5 cups of
vegetables and 2 cups of fruit per day. Why mention this first? Because people
don't tend to give enough attention to these easy-to-prepare, easy-to-grab and
easy-to-eat foods which are low in calories with amazing health
benefits.
Second, drink water. According Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and
Research, we lose 1.5 liters of water a day so it’s important to drink
approximately 8 glasses of water per day to replace what we’ve lost. To mention
the obvious, water is crucial to our survival. Every system in our bodies are
dependant on water.
Third, eat lean meats and fish. For hundreds of years the Japanese people have
eaten in this way and are among the longest-living people in the world.
Fourth, eat low fat dairy products. There's no sense in packing on extra
pounds with whole fat products when lower fat versions are available.
Fifth, and most importantly, stay on the perimeter of the grocery store. Most
grocery stores are set up with produce, dairy, meats and fish and whole grain
products on the edges. Don’t venture into
the center of the store and your chances of being tempted will decrease.
